How is the information inscribed?
The information is engraved using a powerful computer controlled laser. The laser engraves to a depth of approximately 1/16 inch. The result is a clean inscription that is true to the font.
How long is the growth chart?
The Growth Chart is four feet long with measurements from 2 feet through 6 feet. It is designed to be hung with the bottom at 2 feet from the floor. The measurement marks are spaced one inch apart. Upon your request, they can be spaced one centimeter apart and/or lasered without numbers so the growth chart can be hung at any height.
What kind of wood is used?
For Growth Charts and Tiles, we use 3/4 inch thick, solid Maple wood. For wood blocks, we use 2 inch cubes of solid hardwood.
How long will it take to make?
Your order will generally be completed in under one week. If you choose USPS Priority Mail, it will take 1-3 days for delivery to most domestic locations. An email will be sent to you when your order is shipped.
What fonts do you offer?
We offer many fonts to choose from. You can view the list of fonts or use the interactive font tool to view your inscription in our available fonts.
Can I request custom images, custom fonts or custom inscriptions?
Yes, certain products can be further customized. Simply email us with your request. We will provide a custom quote and delivery timeframe.
How do I hang the growth chart?
The Growth Charts are hung using two wall anchors (included), two screws (included) and two keyholes slots on the back of the growth chart. Positioned two feet from the floor, the growth chart will allow you to track your child's growth up to six feet. All growth charts include a Sharpie™ Extra Fine permanent marker and complete installation instructions.
What do I use to write on my growth chart?
You can use anything, but for best results, we recommend using the Sharpie™ brand Extra Fine permanent marker which will be included with your growth chart order. The screws, anchors and Sharpie™ marker will be taped to the back of your growth chart, so be sure to find them before you throw out the packing materials!
How many letters can I fit in the inscription?
It depends on the font. We will contact you if your inscription is too long.
I previously ordered a product that you no longer offer on your site. Does that mean it’s discontinued and you no longer make it?
Recently we updated our site. If you’re looking for a product you previously purchased, send us an email at: info@woodgroove.com and we’ll let you know if it’s possible to order it again.
Can you engrave images?
Yes. If you are looking for a certain type of image, we can help you find something that will laser well. If you already have an image you’d like to see engraved on a growth chart, block or plaque, email us a file in black and white and we’ll let you know if it’s going to work. Preferably black and white line art and at least 300 dpi.
Can you show me a proof via email before I order?
Yes, just send us an email with the inscription, product and font (if applicable) and we can email you a black and white proof so you can get an idea of how your item will look.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes, we can mail/email a gift certificate in any amount. The recipient will get a code to enter upon placing their order. To order the gift certificate, choose custom order, indicate that it’s a gift certificate, enter a message to recipient, and enter the quantity ($ amount). The quantity gets multiplied by $1 so the gift certificate will be in the amount you desire.
I noticed there are 2 Woodgroove business cards in my delivery…why?
That’s because we want you to keep one on hand for future ordering, and share the other one with a friend or family member! Sharing is good.
Can I personalize the back of the growth chart or tile?
Yes, the cost includes the main inscription; however, for an additional $5 we can add a second inscription to the back of the growth chart or tile. For example, you may choose to inscribe a short message on the back, such as, “Happy 1st Birthday, Jennifer” “Love, Grammy & Grampy - July 4, 2010.” The Beanstalk Growth Chart allows for an additional location inscription on the front, in the cloud at the top – this costs $5. Most people like to put the date of birth in this location.
Which is grammatically correct? The Smiths or The Smith’s
The Smiths (no apostrophe) is correct. Please make sure you check your typing when placing an order. We will laser engrave exactly what you order.
